     Think You Know Social Media Marketing?  Think Again

    Hello everyone.  As a Social Media Marketing Coach, Manager, Strategist and Speaker, I hear it all that time from businesses everywhere, "I got my social media under control" "I don't need help from a social media expert" or "My business is doing just fine on social media"  If that was really and truly the case, why do I still see so many businesses, getting it wrong?  When I say wrong what I'm referring to is the fact that a ton of businesses out there are not following the rules, taking short-cuts that could get them in trouble or another one is random posting with content that has little to no value at all.  I also see businesses that really, just don't care what platforms they have their business on, they're on it because everyone else is on it and they think that's where they should be too. The lack of care and knowledge of social media marketing gets to me sometimes because I care and so badly want for businesses to get it right and be successful at it.      

    I was talking about this yesterday at a networking group that I'm a part of. People pay experts to get their hair done, their websites built, their taxes done, their yard done and so much more and the reason why we pay these experts is due to the fact that, it's what they do.  They have been trained and educated in their particular field and have the knowledge and skills necessary to do the job and we trust that so we pay.  We also use and pay these experts because we don't have the skills or time necessary to do it ourselves, am I right?  I bet you I'm about 99.99% right.

    Ponder this.  How many of you when you download an app or sign up for a new site actually reads the terms of services and the privacy policy?  Admit it, you don't, most of us don't.  We just click the agree box and going on about our day. Why do we do this?  Well, most people hate reading things like that and with the print being so small on most of those, that just makes our hate for reading them, that much stronger but let me tell you, the importance of knowing and understanding the terms of service and the privacy policy, will save you a lot of heartache down the road.  This is a task that I not only perform like clockwork for myself but something that I also do for my clients.  I'm there to make sure they know what they can and can't do on social media.  I'm like their second pair of eyes, always watching out for them. 

    Finally, in conclusion, I highly, highly advise all businesses, that before you start marketing your business on social media, you seek the advice of an expert in that field.  You may not need someone to manage it for you but I can bet that what and expert in social media marketing can offer you is something that you don't always think about and that's More Time, Peace of Mind Knowledge and Value and to me, those four things right there is worth the cost.

Why Social Media Marketing?

    I know you've heard and you've probably been told, that having your business on social media, is one of the best things you can do for your business, especially today and beyond but has anyone really explained to why?  What's the big deal with being on social media?  Well sit back and let me give you a few reasons as to why?

  • BRAND AWARENESS:  Social Media Marketing is a great way to get people to notice your company's core image.  Make your business known and familiar to your audience by branding your business across multiple platforms.  Just remember to be consistent in your look and the overall feel of your pages.  Don't overwhelm your audience with too much wording and graphics. Keep it simple but offer value.  

  • RELATIONSHIP BUILDING & TRUST:  Social Media Marketing is a great way to start building a relationship with your audience.  Social Media is the place where your audience gets to learn more about you and you get to learn more about your audience.  To earn their trust, use social media platforms to share value rich content that your audience can resonate with.  You will also want to show your personal side, get real and share your business story.  

  • INEXPENSIVE ADVERTISING:  Marketing your business on social media is relatively inexpensive.  In most cases there is no cost at all to promote your business but using the paid advertising that most platforms offer, proves to be a low cost alternative to some traditional marketing tactics like TV, radio or magazine ads.  Explore your options, perform A, B Testing and seek the advice of a social media marketing expert. 

  • MESSAGE DELIVERANCE:  Social Media Marketing is a great way to get your message out to the masses.  Whether it be a message about a new product or service you are offering or your personal or brand message, lots of consumers in the World, use social media to research a business and to find out if that business has a solution to whatever situation they may be going through. Start sharing your message today.   

  • FUN:  Finally, in my opinion, social media marketing is just plain fun.  I love sharing my knowledge, expertise and wisdom, with my fans on all platforms.  I love having fun with them to.  Asking questions, creating polls, sharing pics of my family, throwing in a joke or two, even if it's not really that funny.  Bottom Line.  Have fun with your post, it doesn't have to be all about business but even if it is, have fun with it.  include a funny pic, create contest and in the end treat your audience like a long time buddy.  You'll be glad you did.
